Is this the right soybean for you?

These are food-grade whole soybeans with the hull intact, not roasted snack soy and not defatted soy meal. Choose them if you want to control the process yourself, from soaking through to the finished product.

• Homemade soy milk - soak, blend, strain, and simmer for a clean-tasting milk with no gums or stabilizers.
• Tofu making - the same soak-and-blend base, set with nigari or gypsum.
• Tempeh and natto - dehulled and cooked, then cultured.
• Sprouting - soy sprouts for stir fry and soups.
• Cooking and roasting - simmer like any dried bean, or oven-roast for a crunchy snack.

About the bean

Soybeans are one of the few plant foods that supply all nine essential amino acids, which is why they anchor so much of the plant-based pantry. Whole beans also carry the fiber and oil that get stripped out of processed soy products. Because ours are certified organic and non-GMO, you know exactly what went into the field and what did not.

Soaking, cooking and storage

Rinse, then soak 8 to 12 hours in cool water. Drain and cook 2 to 3 hours until tender, or about 25 to 35 minutes in a pressure cooker. For soy milk or tofu, rub the soaked beans between your hands to loosen the hulls and float them off before blending. Store the sealed bag in a cool, dry, dark place. Once opened, press the air out and reclose, or move the beans to an airtight container. Kept dry, whole soybeans hold their quality for years.
