About Princeton Popcorn & Farmer Bob: How We Grow and Dry Our Popcorn

Princeton Popcorn is a family farm in Princeton, Kansas that grows, harvests, and slow-dries its own popcorn. We're not a repackager buying generic kernels — we grow the crop in living Kansas soil, dry it ourselves to the exact moisture that makes popcorn pop big and tender, and ship it straight to you.

Who is Farmer Bob?

Farmer Bob is the founder of Princeton Popcorn and the voice behind our “Farmer Bob Explains” videos on YouTube. He's spent a lifetime around corn and farming, and he started Princeton Popcorn to grow one thing and grow it right: popcorn you can taste the difference in. On our channel, he breaks down the science of how popcorn pops, how corn is really grown, and the surprising stories hiding in the food we eat every day — in plain, honest language.

How we grow popcorn

Popcorn isn't grown like the field corn that covers most of America. The single most important factor is moisture. A popcorn kernel has to hold right around 14% water to pop: too dry and it can't build the pressure it needs, too wet and it just sputters and steams. So the real craft happens after the harvest — we dry our corn slowly, over weeks, chasing that exact percentage. It's patient work, and it's the invisible reason one bag pops up perfect while another leaves you a bowl of “old maids.”
